In agosto 2016 Xaver Mayr e Thomas Holler hanno effettuato la prima salita in libera della via Nordwestwand (300m, VIII) sulla Schwarze Wand, massiccio del Wetterstein.

Nordwestwand, Wettersteingebirge, La Nordwestwand era stata aperta da Peter Haag, Jörg Lehne, Rolf Rosenzopf e Günter Schnaidt nel luglio 1967 utilizzando protezioni veloci, chiodi normali e chiodi a pressione, e molti tiri erano stati aperti con l’aiuto dell’artificiale. Con un grado complessivo di VI- e A2, la via è velocemente caduta nel dimenticatoio, accompagnata però da storie di scarse protezioni, vecchi chiodi di legno e arrampicata comunque molto difficile. 

La via è stata resa sicura nel 2015 da Xaver Mayr e compagni che hanno aggiunto nuovi spit alle soste visto che originariamente erano costituite da chiodi a pressione. Inoltre hanno aggiunto spit anche lungo alcuni tiri, lì dove i primi salitori avevano usato chiodi a pressione. 

La via è stata liberata da Xaver Mayr e Thomas Holler in agosto 2016.
